Dali Theatre-Museum
Plaça Gala i Salvador Dalí, 5, 17600 Figueres, Girona, Spain
Salvador Dalí, Artist & Emilio Pérez Piñero, Architect (1964-74)
As you drive into Figueres, ‘Museu Dali’ signs abound… and then you turn a corner and are completely stunned by what you see – the kidney-red coloured walls topped with statues and giant eggs (a favourite motif of Dali’s). The red walls dotted with some kind of decorative relief, that on closer inspection turn out to be plaster casts of Dali’s favourite bread roll!
This converted burned-out derelict theatre with glass dome by Emilio Pérez Piñero is a cacophony of all of the themes and colours of Salvador Dali packed with a wide selection of his artworks. There is not much more to say but go and see it for yourself and enjoy the delights of this wonderful part of Spain as you do.
